The project for Carrer de les Agudes in Ciutat Meridiana includes the installation of escalators and the improvement of the surrounding areas in response to the steep slopes and complex topography that hinder accessibility for residents. The main objective is to improve pedestrian mobility and overall accessibility in the neighborhood.
During the design process, the scope of the project was expanded to include access passages to adjacent buildings and landscaped areas, enhancing the connection between the street, parking, and neighboring residences. In addition to the escalators, an alternative route with accessible stairs has been designed, replacing the existing ones with wider and more comfortable ones. The accessibility improvement also includes the leveling of the horizontal plane, eliminating obstacles and creating new, more accessible spaces and routes for pedestrians. The project plans to refurbish the access passages to the entrances of neighboring buildings to ensure aesthetic and functional uniformity, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact through the reuse of materials such as excavated rock.
